North America’s big sports leagues – the NBA and WNBA, NFL, NHL, Major League Baseball and Soccer, and Nascar – came together in June in New York for the third edition of Beyond Sport United. Held at Yankee Stadium, this year’s event focused on the power of digital media to create sustainable social change, with Dan as host of the day.

Tony Blair’s former Director of Communications, Alistair Campbell, opened a day that also included speakers from Twitter, Major League Soccer and ESPN, amongst others, as well as a number of workshops and discussion panels, and Hollywood star and passionate sportsman Jim Caviezel wrapped up the day.

Beyond Sport United followed on from Beyond Soccer the day before, in partnership with Street Football World, also hosted by Dan. With speakers including Major League Soccer President Mark Abbott, New York Red Bulls star Luis Robles, Chicago Fire ‘keeper Karina Leblanc, and representatives from Bayern Munich, AS Roma, Barclays and Wells Fargo, Beyond Soccer celebrated the growth of the beautiful game in the United States, and its potential for social change on the eve of the World Cup.

Having hosted the 2013 Beyond Sport Summit in Philadelphia, and both these events in New York, Dan will be on home turf later in 2014 when this year’s Beyond Sport Summit takes place in Soweto.
