Less than a week after winning the London Marathon, Kenya’s marathon world record holder Wilson Kipseng flew in to Cape Town as a guest of adidas to support the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, and lend his considerable celebrity to the Cape’s biggest week of running.

Dan joined Wilson for a series of events, including a question and answer session for crowds at the race expo that touched on the Kenyan star’s world record, his early years running to and from school, and the technological advantage he gains from using adidas as his choice of footwear.

Dan also oversaw the handing out by Wilson of 200 pairs of shoes for runners from underprivileged backgrounds, as part of adidas’s commitment to the race as a whole as official technical sponsor.

As well as spending time with the world record holder, Dan also hosted a press conference ahead of the race for adidas, and on race day was on the mic at the adidas stand on the route, cheering on runners as they made their way towards the finish of both the half- and ultra-marathons for 2014.
