On the day that he was announced as Europe’s Ryder Cup captain for 2016, Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke joined Dan on stage for the opening night and draw at the 20th Dimension Data Pro-am at Fancourt.

Celebrating the announcement, Clarke also paid tribute to the influence South Africa has had on his career, as well as South Africans, including Johann Rupert, Jeremy Ord and Selwyn Nathan.

Dan then oversaw the draw pairing the amateur and professional players for the week, with the names being announced by eight stellar sportsmen – World Cup-winning Springbok captain Francois Pienaar, fellow former Boks Schalk Burger Senior and Rob Louw, cricketers Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher and Allan Lamb, and Liverpool legends Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen.

As well as a stellar opening night, Dan also hosted a lunch with celebrity chef and MasterChef judge Pete Goffe-Wood the following day, combining a cooking demonstration with a colourful history of the MasterChef star’s career.
