On the back of the stellar success of her memoir, ‘Good Morning Mr. Mandela’, Zelda la Grange joined Dan at Montecasino for a conversation about her book, her life with Madiba, and the incredible journey she travelled as the former president’s personal assistant.

With a large crowd gathered for the interview and the subsequent signing of a book that’s already sold over 100 000 copies, Zelda recalled her early days with Madiba, a man she admitted to being initially scared of, and discussed path she took from young typist, to assistant, friend and confidant to South Africa’s greatest ever statesman.

As well as her reflections on the book, Zelda also looked to the future, and confessed that she hoped to be known from now on as a biker – she is an avid motorcyclist – and possibly a florist, a career she’s toying with.

Held in partnership with Montecasino’s Skoobs Theatre of Books, hundreds of guests crowded in, and enjoyed an audience with a remarkable woman, who has written 2014’s must-read South African book.
