Acclaimed Olympic sailor Ian Walker, a two-time silver medallist and now skipper of Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in the Volvo Round The World Race, took time out from the race during the Cape Town stopover to meet kids from local Laureus projects, and to receive his certificate confirming his appointment as a new Laureus ambassador.

Dan joined his fellow ambassador and handed over the certificate to welcome the Olympian into the Laureus family. Walker showed kids from Great Commission United, Grassroots Soccer, Indigo Youth Movement, Vuka Rugby and Waves for Change, all supported by the Laureus Sport For Good Foundation, around his boat, which had won the first leg of the current Round The World Race.

As well as his two Olympic silver medals, Walker has also been involved in two America’s Cup campaigns. He joins a celebrated group of international ambassadors supporting the work done by Laureus in 35 countries, backing over 150 projects.
