For the fourth time in five years, Dan hosted the Nokia Cape Town Tens, and the combination of sunshine, running rugby, terrific bands and big name players made the 2014 event the most successful yet.
Kickstarted with the annual Odd Shaped Ball the night before the tournament started, Dan was joined on stage by Tens founders Bob Skinstad and Rob Fleck, and as well as an entertaining question and answer session with some of rugby’s great characters, a charity auction raised over R160 000 for the JAG Foundation, and the Christina Noble Children’s Fund.
The actual rugby, played out at Hamilton’s Rugby Club in Green Point, attracted more than 15 000 people over days, with Carlos Spencer, Percy Mongomery, Pat Howard and Butch James amongst the star players joining Skinstad and Fleck in the International Legends team, one of 100 playing in the Tens.
As well as the rugby, Dan also hosted the two evenings on stage, with Goodluck, Me And Mr. Brown and DJ Sox playing to a packed crowd, and Spencer leading a haka to enormous cheers on the second and final night of a hugely successful event that already has players and spectators lining up the 2015 tournament with great anticipation.
