Dan is heavily involved in a range of charity events, and has a committed philosophy towards giving back to South African communities in need of support. Foremost, Dan is an ambassador for the JAG Foundation, using sport as a platform to keep kids away from drugs, gangs and crime. He created the JAG Invitational golf series in 2011, bringing together celebrities and businesspeople to raise funds and awareness for the Foundation, which celebrated a third successful year in 2013.
Dan is also a regular supporter of Francois Pienaar’s MAD Foundation, the Chris Burger Petro Jackson Players Fund, Songo.info in Stellenbosch’s Kayamandi township, the Raymond Ackerman Golf Academy, the Kirsty Watts Foundation, and the iTemba Trust in Cape Town (working with abandoned AIDS orphans), and has also supported the Big Tree Foundation, Johannesburg Child Welfare, South African Disabled Golf Association, the Match Point Foundation, and CANSA, amongst others.
Dan also works closely with the Laureus Sport For Good Foundation, and in 2013 attended the Laureus World Sport Awards in Rio de Janeiro in support of the Foundation.
Having served as a panel facilitator at the 2011 Beyond Sport summit in Cape Town, where Tony Blair, Michael Johnson and Paddy Ashdown were amongst the guests, Dan has been invited to co-host the 2013 Beyond Sport in summit in Philadelphia.
“Dan as a Master of Ceremonies has no equal. I have got to know Dan through the work that he does for the JAG Foundation. Dan gives of his time generously and in turn brings his boundless energy and enthusiasm to our events. He has created events for JAG, which has resulted in JAG raising large amounts of funds that are needed to run our programs. Dan is a very generous man and gives much back to our communities. Dan is an integral part of the JAG family.”

“Since we started iThemba just over three years ago, Dan has always so generously offered his time and incredible support for our charity. He raises the bar of every event we have, and his wit and auctioneering talents have helped us raise funds for iThemba that would not have been possible with anyone else. I cannot say enough great things about this amazing man and anyone would be extremely lucky to have him involved with whatever they have planned!
– Tanith Bales, Trustee, iThemba Trust
“On behalf of the Jo’burg Child Welfare, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to you for your participation as auctioneerat our 100 Doors charity cocktail auction. We raised close to R315 000. This was far better than had been expected, and we have received so many compliments and letters of thanks from those who attended. Without you this definitely would not have been possible. Thank you again for your support and personal commitment to the children of Jo’burg Child Welfare.”
